Welcome to GRD 3200!

Hi all! I hope you are doing well, and are looking forward to a great semester working on your branding and identity project. Please go back through and look at what has been posted on this blog from last year's course...you will find links and info that will give you inspiration and insight into what we are going to cover this semester.

A few reminders:
1. Send me your blog address, if you have not already! I will post links to everyone's blog/site on here, so you can follow them. Be sure to follow this one as well, so you can get updates whenever I add something new.

2. Tomorrow you must have a few ideas about your clients, and be ready to discuss them.

A. Who are your company choices (have 2-3 for us to discuss)?

Once we decide upon one, you must answer the following questions:
B. What do they do?

C. Who is their main competition?

D. What strengths do they have as a brand and as a company?

E. In what areas do they need improvement?

F. List five buzzwords that describe the brand as it is, and then five words to describe the brand as you wish to redesign it.

G. Who is their target audience? Of course you want your branding to appeal to as wide of a demographic as possible, but let us know who generally is their most common customer, in terms of age range, gender, interests, income, level of education, and any other info you think helps define your specific audience.

H. Go online and find logos, photos, illustrations, colors, and any other imagery that you think helps describe the vibe or overall feeling you want to create for your client's identity. Make this into a mood board (collage), and include your buzzwords into the collage design as well. This will be the representation of your brand's direction. You will turn it in to me next class, along with the write-up answering the questions I listed above. You should also post it on your blog so we can refer to it often.

See you tomorrow!
