Hi all! FYI:
If you are applying to the Graphic Design major, you will turn in your portfolios on Tuesday, 4 May. The review committee (Graphic Design instructors and faculty) will have a few days to come in and make a list of our choices for the major candidates. Then on 10 May, we all will meet to discuss and choose the twenty individuals who will be accepted into the GRD BFA program.
We talk about several things in the review process (not necessarily in order):
Of course, your eye for design and aesthetics
Attention to details
Technical proficiency with software
Professionalism
Work ethic
Craftsmanship
Participation
Ability to work well with others
Ability to discuss your own work as well as work of others in a constructive critical light
Ability to stay organized and focused
Genuine interest and passion for design (your own, as well as what is going on in the world around you)
Other things can come up, but these are the ones that I can think of right off. Just wanted to give you some food for thought...have a great day, and I will see you tomorrow. :)
