Looking forward...

The rest of this semester will probably fly by, and we have three projects to do in the remaining time this semester. I wanted to remind you of the projects we have left, so that even though you are currently working on the self-mailer piece, you can be thinking ahead for the other two projects.

Self-mailer due date: 03/23/09 (Monday)
10% of your grade
Next Monday will be a work day.
Wednesday will be a preliminary critique.
The following Monday it is due.

(Remember, on all of this, you are expected to put in a solid amount of time outside of class, so don't limit yourself to working on these projects only during our class time.)

Advertisements due date: 04.06.09 (Monday)
10% of your grade
For this, you will be required to design two print advertisements (both full page). They should be well-designed with a strong concept, and since they are a campaign, there should be a relationship between the two ads in terms of concept and look and feel. Since these will certainly take some brainstorming, I suggest you think ahead, so you can have some idea of what you'll want to do for these. Once we start this project on 3/23, it would be great for you to hit the ground running with some concepts already in mind. Be aware of advertisements, and collect some between now and then that you think will be inspirational.

Specialty piece due dates: 04.22.09 (Wednesday) and 4.27.09 (Monday)
20% of your grade
I have changed the schedule a little with this project. We will not have a separate final critique for your specialty item; you'll present it with your final brand presentation. This specialty piece is a special promotional item - something creative and specific to your business/organization. It can be a booklet, a food menu, a special premium giveaway...any number of things. We will talk more about this as the project gets closer, but start generating ideas on this as well.

In the syllabus, I had originally planned for your presentations to be 4.27 and 4.29; however, since I will be on the seniors' exit review committee starting on 4.29, I had to push things up a day. We will choose groups soon, so those of you who must present on 4.22 will be prepared.

Book page due date: 03.30.09 (Monday)
5% of your grade
On this due date, please bring in a printout of your page (based on the theme "The Present"). Also, have both a PDF and a high resolution JPG ready to give to me, so I can assemble this book quickly.

After 4.27, you guys will be done with my class! This will give you the rest of the week to work on your portfolios, which are due that Friday (05.01.09). Don't wait until the last minute to begin mounting your boards. Once you have sign-off on your projects, go ahead and mount those and set them aside in a safe place. I will have your stationery and logos graded by next week, so those can be tweaked if necessary, and then you can put those on boards.

Just wanted to put all of this out there, because we will be quite busy for the remainder of the semester, and I don't want these dates/projects to sneak up on you.
