Hi all!
Here are the things to remember for Monday's major project critique. This is a really important milestone in the semester, so be sure to be thoughtful and meticulous in your presentation.
You will be turning in the following:
1. A printout of your company logo in grayscale/black & white as well as the full color version. Include your Pantone color swatches at the bottom. Don't make the swatches too large so that they detract from the logos themselves.
2. I said you are not required for this critique to mount your printouts, but if you feel so motivated, I'd highly recommend it; you can get some more practice with good craftsmanship. However, I want the printouts to be high quality (not just some quick print that you'd do for a progress crit). I do not want them bent or smudged either, even if you do not choose to mount these. They should be crisp clean prints.
3. Think about how your letterhead, envelope, and business card designs will fit on your stationery printout. Have it nicely presented, so the set is showcased in an organized, attractive fashion.
4. Remember, you must have comped up versions of the stationery set as well, including the business card, the envelope, and the letterhead. Make sure the business card has some weight, and is not just a flimsy piece of paper. Also, practice a couple of times with comping up the envelope, which might be the most challenging thing you do. Don't let any adhesive show, and be sure that the edges are straight and clean. Craft is very important, and it is taken into account when you submit your portfolio. Get into good habits now.
5. You can put your samples in a large manila envelope to turn them in to me. Have your name on the outside.
6. DO NOT wait until the last minute to have these prepared. I am not going to allow you to print at the beginning of class, so if you are not ready by the time we start, you will not be able to participate in the critique, which will adversely affect your grade.
7. DO NOT come in late. We are going to start at the very beginning of class, and if you are late, you will not be able to participate in the critique.
I think that is it for now. Have a wonderful break, and I will see you Monday at 2PM! :)
